Help with Sunroof leaks
I decided to see if my new (to me) SC leaks. Sure enough, it does. I believe I have found the 4 culprits. Each of the interior light switch grommets are pretty much useless. Also, I have identified the location of the other two leaks, in the sunroof. I posted a pic below. I thought the drain tubes were leaking but they aren't. It is something else. The drain tube is labeled 1 in the pic. The section that leaks is labeled with a 2. What is this? It has a rubber seals.
Many thanks and great forum! Brian ![]()

i can't really focus on your pictures.
i would change the tittle of your topic. we all leak OIL. if you change the tittle to sunroof leaks, some sunroof guys will have fixed this before. ( i'm a coupe and a targa guy) see if you can get some info off the parts diagrams here on pp.

i think i have 20/20 untill i look at the wiring diagrams. pelican does not have the expolded view of the sunroof parts online ( i looked ). call them and fax them a picture so they can get you a part #. you could stop by a dealer and ask to look on the screen/microfiche.

I have the 101 Projects book and didn't see anything mentioned about that piece. I believe it is the worm gear that moves the sunroof, however, there is also a pin like piece sticking out behind it. I am really stumped on that one. Thanks

Brian,
It's a little hard to tell from the picture (no offense intended ![]() At the rear of each guide rail is a black plastic piece that inserts through a hole in the rear of the sunroof tray. This plastic piece helps locate the rear of each guide rail. When you unzip the headliner, you can see each of them protruding through the rear of the sunroof tray near each corner, adjacent to the cable guide tubes. Does this sound like the item that you are referring to? When I reinstalled my sunroof, I used sealant on the collar of these plastic locators before I installed the guide rails into position. If you don't want to remove the guide rails to do this you may be able to apply some type of sealant from the rear, but I haven't tried this. If it would help, I can take and post a pic of the area I'm describing, later today.

Bob,
I believe you hit the nail on the head! I guess I will probably try to seal this up from the backside. Was/is there some type of rubber seal on the frontside of these? If not, then I guess they are all prone to leak at some point. Are there any drain holes in that area? I can see the ones in the front part of the sunroof. Should I be worred about any water pooling in this area? Sorry about the pic. It was the best I could get with my digital camera. Many thanks! Brian

Lynn,
It is not my camera so I really am not to familiar with it. I did set the focus to .5m and moved the camera around until it look good on the LCD. Thanks for the tip. I will do some more investigation. Bob, Ok, thanks. What kind of sealant do you recommend? I have heard silicon based products are a no no. Thanks, Brian
