Glasurit or ??

I'm respraying my 68 911 in Chalk. Its a home slash borrow a booth job. At 140 USD a litre just for the r22 ( add hardner and reducer ). Its not a bare metal job as well. I'm doing it properly done with the car pulled apart. Its just a driver that I will use on weekends. Using Glasurit I'm up for a 1k USD for my paint and some primer. That's not using there 2k primer. ( add another 300 USD).

Is it worth using. ??? I'm happy to spend it if so.
I can get a run of the mill 2 pack single stage for about 60 percent less.

Thoughts of those who have been down this road.
Thanks Lyndon

Glasurit is good, no debate there. Consider Lesanol. It's pretty good too.

I'm no expert. I learn off you guys.

But I have been using PPG products because they have very good information about what works with what. And seem to have everything.

It’s more about the quality of the line you choose not the brand. Glasurit 22-line is the top of the line single stage paint from BASF. You can go cheaper within the BASF family of paints or you can go to other paint brands. Lesanol is an Akzo Nobel product. Decent. Just don’t skimp to the point you end up with crappy paint as there’s some cheap stuff out there

RM UNO is in the BASF family.

If you have a Glasurit jobber they probably sell RM as well.

It's a pretty rare car. Stick with the 22 line is my vote.

I would talk with 962 Porsche in paint forum. You can always use rm line for your primers and sealers then shoot 22 that will save you some cash. The limco 2k primer called 800k is a good 2k primer and it's only $90 a gallon compared to the rm and glasurit.
Most painters will talk you out of 22 line especially for a driver and tell you to go with 55 line.
Go talk with your basf jobber best bet.

Dupont also makes a great product. I painted my car with Centari in '85 and it still looks great.

Intersting. painted over the stone chips on the bonnet. ( rust ) . They were bubbles in the paint. When rubbed back no rust until you got to the bare metal. Metal. Primer . Original paint and the one done about 20 years ago. I'm going Glasurit. Got the car cheap so and extra 500 is not an issue.

Very nice garage. Have fun and looking forward to seeing the finished product. It's all about the prep-work. Cheers.

I'm blocking the car and priming. What are your thoughts on underside of the bonnet and engine lid etc.
I can't really get the same blocking effect and I'm thinking no primer just paint after a good scuff. I don't want to end up with a thick coat on these areas. ???

41C makes me think you live in Australia. That means you can buy Prepsol. i'd scuff the surface then get it really clean with Prepsol and go for it.

Great work area!!!
