Resurrecting a 1973 Targa
I am currently resurrecting a 1973 911E Targa for one of our club members and her son. Her husband passed away and left a pretty interesting car behind. It is currently running Webers. So she and her son would like to get the car back up and running, as it has sat for the past three or four years.
So far, I got the old gas out of the tank, and cleaned it up enough to work on (I will not work on dirty cars). The major issue is that while the engine turns over fine, the fuel pump and the gauges and radio all fail to function. Could these issues be related? As it is, I am going to have to run down the circuits one-by-one. Sorry about the images, I can't rotate them. Here is how the car looked when it arrived: ![]() Here it is after a bit of cleaning:

As it’s been sitting for a while, I’d try cleaning all the fuse connections (and obviously check the fuses) before determining which systems aren’t functioning. If the car had been converted to Weber’s, it’s possible that the fuel pump has been replaced with a low pressure one and it may have been fitted with a switch.

Looks like the fuel pump is bad. I determined power coming to it, so that was fine. Looks like the original pump was being used, which would explain the adjustable restrictors on the fuel lines out to the carbs.
Since the webers require much less pressure, is there any reason that I couldn't just switch over to a Facet solid-state low pressure pump? Since the original pump was for injection, wouldn't it have been a much higher pressure pump?

That is what I did. Make sure the pump you get is around 3 psi. Worked fine for me for the past 30 years.

Nice job on the car.
Do you actually have oriental rugs in your garage? Impressive... |

Gordon, where did you mount the new pump? Same place as the original?
