yes. One of them studs that come out of the heads thru into cam housing.

Correct - I was at work when I posted earlier and couldn't look at my manual, but my best guess was it was for the cams. 13mm nut.

And I confirmed with the PO (who owned the car from about 2000 until I bought it in 2015) that the head studs were replaced during the engine rebuild in ca. 2005. So it's all good.

Ha, well done researching it on this site and coming up with an answer. Nothing to be embarrassed about, we are all on the learning curve. LOL me too, I'd take embarrassement over cash any day.
