The colour code is located on a small plate on the drivers door hinge post.

According to Peter Morgan 1972 yellows were: Signal Yellow 114 and Light Yellow 117

It should be an aluminium plate about 2" square, riveted on.

I have a 73E, originally sold in Germany It is what I would call "fly yellow" . I took the code to the paint store years ago when I resprayed it. The color shocked me when it came out of the gun as it had much more chroma than the original color. (Presumably faded after 20 years) I seem to remember the paint store chart called it "something (which I translated as 'medium') geld".

Does anyone know what the actual term is?

I usually test it on a piece of scrap medal first. I want to thank all those who helped me out again I did find the tag and the code was right on it.
