Can somebody explain the best way to check if I have a spark??
 

I did a bunch of work last night, and now my car wont run.

I took a the alternator as well as the large black plastic piece that hooks into the MFI. This black piece has a sort of flapper in it and also hooks into one of the hose that comes off of the heat exchangers.

I get a whine and the car turns.

I checked for loose connections, can't seem to find any.

I checked the 14 point connector, I did take this out to re-install that large black MFI part.

What is the easiest way to check for spark??

Hold a spark plug lead about 1/2-1/4 inch from a conductive surface....the spark should jump across and be seen by the naked eye....I would recommend using insulated gloves or pliers to hold the spark plug lead. It can be a hair raising experience.....:eek:

The easiest way especially with only one person is with an inductive timing light. Clip in on any plug wire and crank. The cord is usually long enough for you to reach the starter.

Tom's idea is less apt to zap you, but in absence of a light, you can pull the wire, put a spare plug in it, hold the side of the plug against the block and watch it while someone cranks.

AGAIN, wear heavy gloves and don't get your hands near the business end of that plug while the ignition is on! This is dangerous if you're not careful.
