Looking for headlight and fog light protective film

As the title states, I’m looking for a protective film for my headlights and fog lights. All the (3M, scotch guard) products I found are made for paint. I’m looking for something a bit thicker, see padded, to resist rock strikes. Something that will not yellow over time. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Alex

Take the lenses to a paint protection film (PPF) installer and have them wrapped. The film is thick and should help with impacts and is easily replaceable. I had the new Bosch headlights and some cheap fog lenses wrapped for my car using the same film as on the car, Suntek Ultra PPF.

I bought an Xpel kit direct from the factory but it was way too thin. I argued with the sales manager that this product was not what I ordered from them in the past and they basically told me I was wrong. I have the receipt, Grrrr.

I bought the Xpel kit from our host and it IS what I ordered in the past from Xpel. Good, thick and easy to apply.

From Site Review ---> Does NOT fit H-5 lenses Product, H9903 does NOT fit 911s with H-5 lenses, which are standard for that model.. The cut outs for the mechanical alignment nipples do not match. Even the more expensive options have customer reviews discussing non application to H-5 lenses or a need to modify the product and lenses are still unprotected. XPel needs to come up with correct product for H-5s.

Or just to go a local shop that does wraps and protective films and buy a sheet. Cut to fit, apply, done!

I did this for my galls Hella H-4's the shop just gave me some scraps.

They work well on my H4s. I don't know that there's much of a difference in shape, but I could be wrong.

The difference is that the H5s have little bumps in the lens to facilitate positioning of an aiming tool, while the H4 lights do not have these - they are smooth over the entire surface of the lens. Those aiming nibs stick out far enough that the film won't stick properly in that area.

If it was me, I would either heat the film to conform to the shape or cut a small opening to allow them to protrude.

Yep, that's what I'd do as well, though I'm not sure about the long term results of heating to conform over the nubs. Probably a circle template (drafting supply) and a sharp X-acto knife would be the ticket.

I'd use a hole punch.

Yes, if you had one the size of the dimples, it likely would be the best choice.
