Subscribe to the new satelite Sirrus musicsystem and have a glass mounted antenna installed with a CD player. Come on it's 2003.

You could park your car near a golf driving range and claim it on your comprehensive insurance for a new windshield with antenna.

For my extra radio equipment, I have an antenna that is suction cupped to my windshield on the inside. Should be able to pick it up at Radio Shack.

The suction cup thing sounds pretty good...at this point the driving range options sounds good too...but see it that I am an insurance claim adjuster, I think I'll go with the former. Hey Harlan what insurance company do you have?

I had a golf ball go into my windshield of my car in the 90's. An errant drive and the guy left a note, but Farmer's Insurance replaced it.

Art,
I had a carbon fiber body kit put on my
car. The body shop installed a regular mast
antenna on the inside on the fender under
the hood. It works great, you might give it
try.

Did the same thing as Amac. Its by no means a very elegant solution, but it works and I pick up FM signals a good 50 miles away. aftermarket masts are available at auto parts stores for about $10.

Art-
at the risk of asking the obvious, have you checked all the connections. I too, have an '85 and I've been told that there is a separate antenna connection to the radio that (some) stereo shops don't know about and accidentally disconnect it. Or it comes loose if someone was doing other work nearby and dislodges it.

Just a thought.

If this has been covered, please excuse. I think all the "in-windshield" antennas need/use an amplifier. There should be an amplifier (looks like a little black box) in-line with the antenna lead and an additional black wire from the amp. following the antenna lead to the radio, this wire needs 12v when the radio is on. Without this you'll get some FM and virtually no AM. Most newer radios have a connection for a "power antenna", that's a good place to connect this amp.

I have a '78sc and recently I installed one of the short rubber type aerials about 18'' long behind the fire extinguisher attached on the passenger side of my centre console . It is held there with two black cable ties to the frame of the extinguisher . It is virtually invisible and requires only a single cable discreetly descending from the head unit directly above . The aerial cost £5.00 and the reception is excellent . If it didn't work I would hardly have lost out.
