Source for ashtray grommets?
Hi everyone.
I'm trying to find a replacement grommet for the ashtray in my 930 as one of mine is missing. Can these be purchased individually or does someone know of a replacement part? I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction. :) I have a copy of the PET system and can't seem to find it anywhere. Here's a picture with my single grommet circled in red: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/P3220011b.jpg Thanks, Brian |
steal one out of the of the wifes tarus. just kidding. an mb m class has simular stops for the glove box and cup holders. if you can't find the proper part, stop by a local mb dealer.
i am looking at a 78 euro 930. what is your best guestiment of your cars value? is an 81 a grey market car? |
Brian's car is a stellar example! (IMHO) . but Brian, you are going to have to cut down on the smoking if you are wearing out the bump stops on your ashtray!! Are you running polyurethane bushings in the ashtray pivot pins?? max

Thanks for the MB idea Tryan. I'll give them a shot if I can't find the proper Porsche part. And yes, my 930 is a Euro car. It was imported by Ferrari of Hollywood in 1981 and has all the documentation. It also has a BAR exemption tag and retains the full Euro exhaust with no cat. It is completely stock and original with the exception of a 1-bar wastegate spring. It was a two-owner car before I bought it last year. I had it appraised about a year ago at $34K, which was before the stock market took a dive. Recently there have been a lot of 930's for sale as people are getting rid of their toys due to the economy. You should be able to pick up a nice '78 for anywhere from $20-$25 depending on the mileage/condition and what's been done to it. It all depends on if you want a collector car, a driver, or something in between. Good luck finding your dream car!
Thanks Max. I'm a big fan of your 993 S too! I hope to see you at another run. As for the poly bushings......I'm gonna need to do something soon the way I keep smoking......the rear tires! :D Brian |
