Wrong front turn signal illuminating?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1560719626.jpg

The above photo shows my car with the running lights on. Only the smaller lens on the side flashes as the turn signal.

This seams incorrect, standing in front of the car you can barely see the turn signal flashing. Shouldn't the front lenses be the turn signals?

If this is wrong (which I think it is), where did I plug something in incorrectly? Would it be the connections behind the headlight? I did replace the flag terminals for the H4's...

Wiring.

If you don't have a wiring diagram,
try do download one off the internet,
and, go from there.

I have a good wiring diagram. Problem is I don't know how the lights are supposed to function.

Which lenses should be marker lights and which are turn signals?

The forward facing light (the one lit in your picture) is both running light and turn signal for US cars. The side marker (the one not lit) is only a running light. It should not flash with the turn signal.

One thing that could complicate your troubleshooting is that you have the running light inside the H4 headlight hooked up. How that was done could easily affect the function of the lights below.

My guess at this point is that you have a bad ground in the bumper lights.

Thanks Arne, very helpful!

Yes, I'm sure when I wired the City lights and replaced the H4 connections I made a mistake.

Now that I know how the finished product should work, should be easy to fix

Try swapping the 2 wires leaving the headlight bucket. (In the single tab plastic connectors)
One is running lamp wire , the other is turn signal.
And check all grounds are good.

This is what I have on the driver's side headlight. I needed to stop the 'side light' from working. In the end, I made a Y-split so both the front blinker and sidelight are now connected to the blinker relay.

The front blinker light actually has 2 filaments, one acting as 'side light' (but very bright in my case), the other as blinker.
3 wires run to them from the headlight :
BRN Ground
BLK/WHT Blinker
GRY/RED Side lights

The front blinker then has a connection (cable) to the side light (did not note down the cable colour).

Check your ground on the light and make sure the housing is tight to the bumper.

Swapping the two wires was it!

It looks like two black/wht stripe source wires enter the drivers side headlight bucket.

If I squint real hard-

Drivers Side
One is blk/grey - marker Lights via gry/red
Other is blk/white - turn signals via blk/white

Passenger Side
blk/red - marker via gry/red
blk/grn - turn signal via blk/white

Works as it should now:D
