Home made clock plug.

Does anyone have a clock plug they could measure for me? I think I am going to make one. Or could someone pop their clock out and measure the outside diameter that is in contact with the rubber seal and the outer most diameter? Any ideas?
I was thinking a peice with a small lip like the clock has to push up against the seal. Probably out of black Delrin.
Thanks in advance.

Shawn,
The outer diameter is exactly the same diameter as the clock bezel (we're talking about the *largest* diameter, that of the lip that rests on the rubber ring).
Then the part that goes inside the hole and the rubber seal is the same as the clock's body.

Ron,
No I am doing this because people like Eric Mkenna have infected my brain with crazy thoughts. I just need two diameters from the clock.

Cool

I have the number 80, w/a zero and a slash inside the zero from the parts micro for the clock and rubber seal..
still don't understand what your doing/not important.

Ron,
I want to make a clock plug out of plastic. I don't have my car here so I need someone to go out and measure the diameter of the clock that fits in the seal and the largest diameter of the clock so I can turn a plug out of plastic. Like the RSA clock delete plug.

i made my own clock delete from the orig clock. i liked the idea of keeping the bezel so that the dash looks unified. i removed, gutted, and painted the orig clock. only cost was time. i used the original hole in the glass to display the led from my alarm.

post pics when your done. i have seen the orig clock deletes on ebay for $125. there were no bids.

Lathe, eh? Machine shop? Now I know what got your mind going on the grille badges!

I've made so many parts for my Porsche in our machine shop it's almost silly. Some of them were readily available (battery mounts, ignition bezel, accelerator pedal, et al) for far less $ than the time and money it cost me to make them! Oh well, it fun, huh? Plus, you end up with a part that no one else has!

Post pics when done (please...)

Cheers,
Jim

BTW, did the measurements that DByers posted work for you? If not, I could pop mine out and take the caliper to it, then send you a quick DXF.

Shawn...I have a few skeletons in my closet too. So, no...I'm in no position to poke fun.

Just being a wise-ass. Comes naturally.
