Front crank seal / no spring? 911sc 3.0
Just installed a front main / crank seal on a 911sc 3.0
When I removed the old one I noticed the inner spring ring. Mainly cause it came off when ripping old seal out. When grabbing new seal for install. There’s no inner spring ring. Seal was ordered from our host. Can anyone shed some light. First time I’ve seen them with no ring. Should I order another one? |
I know about 4 years ago, give or take, on a carrera reseal, I was on the third reinstall before I found there were springs missing on the ones removed. One with a spring solved the problem.

there has to be a spring on it..t.The best seals are by Elring company....like this one.Never liked the other brands..
tha flywheel seal should look like this-with the black rim.. https://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/images/...-B6/s-l225.jpg the front pulley seal as well.. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...aYdaayN4GWnkwA |
Seals without a spring are considered a Grease seal. Seals for oil conditions require a spring.

Since I'm doing this soon, what spring are you talking about? I'm looking at the front of the crank and I don't see a spring in the parts blow out. Are you talking about the circlip 90110214800?
Edit - I did not know the types of seals as outlined by Aaron above. Did you get the seal in a kit? The black and brown one is preferred, I think it's the elring klinger as supplied by Wrightwood. The reinz black one is not as recommended. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1561991476.jpg |
it is part of the seal..There must have been bad batch of seal supplied...
Any seal has a spring for the purpose of sealling....this is a different size but same spring.. Ivan http://img.pccreation.net/photos/201907011640473834.JPG |
