Sunroof fuse keeps blowing
When I try to activate my sunroof switch, the fuse blows after a split second. It will open/close partially then cut off. I've checked the wiring at the switch and at the sunroof motor and they look fine, no obvious shorting. And the sunroof does move, its not stuck or anything. I was wondering if the switch itself could be bad? Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone have a diagram for how the switch works?
-edit---I've also checked the wiring to rear wiper, which share the same fuse. I have that turned off and don't touch that, although I haven't tried turning that on.

A friend of mine (87 Carrera) had this happen this weekend. The shop told him one of the wires in the door harness was pinched. The power windows and the sun roof share a common fuse.

Any luck?
Like bk mentioned something is probably pinched somewhere. Idk about the door harness though. I'm going through that currently and my windows don't work while my sunroof does. They also have different fuses, at least on a euro sc. I would follow the wiring as far back as you can, sheck for any stripping, burning, etc. If the switch goes bad usually the sunroof will simply stop working. Still putt out the switch and check the contacts, something is likely loose or frayed. |

also...
see if there is dirt in the switch - blow out w/ compressed air crank the roof manually and see if it moves easily - if not, refurb |
