Sport seats -- What constitutes a 12 way /3 button switch??

I had these seats on an 89 ROW cab that was a RUF WOP full engine conversion BTR III with 964 turbo body 6 speed R 50-50 box in yellow. I lost the seats 20 years ago. My question here is were those seats Ruf stuff necessarily? I just saw on classifieds forum a guy selling similar seats out of an 86 that were white and redone in black leather.

Funny thing is, his passenger seat is two button/8way. I can't remember if my lost seats were the same i.e. 12 way on driver's side and 8 way passenger's side. The main question is, did my original seats that are gone now have anything to do with Ruf, or was that just some option that Porsche offered? If I remember correctly, my passenger seat also had the 12 way/three button switch.

Thanks in advance far any wise counsel.

Porsche offered 4- 8- and 12-way seats (12-way with lumbar supports).

You could choose for each seat in the same order.

What they did not offer AFAIK is 12 way with heating.

Great reply George. So that means my former seats weren't really or necessarily Ruf oriented I guess.

Thank you George!

I believe the factory soft back sport seats of that era (late 80s 911 and 964) were available with only four way adjustability (two round buttons each with up/down directions) like these in the photo below, even though this is not a sport seat.

Each button raises or lowers one end of the seat base, either the front or the rear of the seat. Forward and back for the base and recline were adjusted with a manual lever.

My '89 C4 came new with 8-way driver, 4 way passenger seats, no heating.

Thanks to Kev and George! I still don't know, but perhaps it was ordered on this particular car or, Ruf had it done back in the day. Hard call, but I believe my question, although difficult has been answered.

Thank you!
