Idle Adjustment Screw on Throttle Body- baseline setting?
 

Hi,

Searched through my manuals and checked some CIS threads and didn’t find the answer.

If you were to replace a throttle body or the setting had been moved all over the place, where would you start adjusting?

I’m looking for a something that would be like screw it all the way in and then back out x amount of turns sort of info; is there a factory setting?

I am pretty sure it comes from the factory 1.5 to 3 turns out from all the way in.

Thanks, I’ll start with a couple turns out then.

You wind the screw out then wind it back in until the injectors *just* start ejecting then wind it back 1/2 a turn. That's the base setting. I did this with the injectors sitting in jars but you should be able to hear them squeal when they start to spray.

I was asking about the big screw on the throttle body, you’re instructions are for the tiny screw that is near the air metering plate next to the fuel distributor, which is good info for people to know anyways.

I thought you turn the big screw to get 900 RPM or whatever the book calls for. The small screw w/jam nut is set on the air flow bench at the factory and sealed with yellow paint. I was told to never try to adjust because if the car is not running correctly, it's something else that needs attention. If the yellow paint is "broken" it means somebody has been mucking with it.

900rpm +/-50 as per the spec printed on the OE fan strap ;)
