Smoke in Cockpit ?? Help ...
Took the 911 out today for the first run of the year. Running OK but had a strange occurrence. About 15 minutes into the run got a blast of smoke into the cockpit from the car vents. Pulled over and could not find where it was coming from? It did not last long but the engine and trunk were clear. Any idea what it could be? It was a puff of smoke - not a continuous burn. It was not an electrical burn smell, more like burning oil.

Stored **** on heat exchangers .
Nothing to worry about , just wear googles and arrive at work with a face like a spitfire pilot from the old movies . |

That is what I was thinking - but it was a blast of smoke. Not a continuous burn that I would expect.

Could it be that it happened just as you’d warmed up enough that the oil thermostat would be opening ?

Here we are 4 months later and it is still happening - and I have been driving the car regularly. I am thinking that maybe I have too much oil in the car.

It could be a small leak in the oil return tubes dripping into the heat exchangers. When it gets hot enough it burns the (couple of drops maybe) oil off and stops until you park the car and same again.
