Now I'M pissed

I replaced the green wire going into my dist and now when I get on it hard it feels like the vac adv is kicking in and out. The stock wires going into the dist were cut off and I put new insulated ends on them. I pushed them onto the connector end of the green wire, and taped nice and neat. Reinstalled the dist and retimmed @ 5* BTDC, Can these wires be mixed up? The green wire seemed to have one pin larger than the other so I gave the larger one the ground. Was this correct? Can these be hooked up backasswards and still run ok?. I also replaced the rotor and dist cap at the same time. The plug wires are stock new 4 months old. The 2 wires going to the coil were brittle so I made up a new set complete with a ground shield and wired them into the harness neat as a pin. (all parts ordered from our host). I do know I have a vacume leak 2 cans of carb cleaner later and I found no leak. The idle surges and I can plug up the air intake and the rpm's go up, also when hot the idle climbs up to about 1200 rpm's. There were little pieces of the old connector in the dist but I truly believe that I removed all debries from the inside when I had the dist removed. It feels like a high rpm miss like a cracked rotor or dist cap. I know the valves need to be adjusted and it needs an oil change, but maby one of you guys may be able to share your wisdom with me Ha. Mabe plugs too. Thanks Speedy1 It runs warm to, I think today 75* and the meter was betweene 9-10 O'clock on the gague. the only problem before the green wire was the vac leaks no miss at all.

I'm having some problems.

I replaced the green wire going into my distributor and now when I accelerate hard it feels like the vaccum advance is kicking in and out.

Thanks, Speedy1

Speedy1, this sounds like distributor problems. If it feels like a cracked cap or rotor, that's a good, cheap place to start. I hate to shotgun a problem on a 911 but ignition is a hard thing to troubleshoot. (Trust me. I know.)

Have you tested the coil?

Also, your car is running *way* hot. On a day like today (70F), my car never makes it past the 8 o'clock range on the temp gauge.
