Where to find black '74 Door Mirror?

Hello,

I've exhausted my search at our hosts (they have chrome/steel). Does anyone know where I can get a black mirror from the '74 Carrera MFI? I think these will be a great addition to replace my flags - and usable too!

I don't think our host has them but google aase Porsche and search for mirrors. They carry the Porsche classic 1975/1975 mirror and you can sand the chrome over plastic and then paint black. They also carry the passenger mirror that was not offered in '74/75.

That's a tough one. I had an NOS one a few years back. They actually came in primer so they could be painted body color. Sold it to a member here.

I've never seen a source for one since then, just the chrome ones. You may be relegated to trying to paint a chrome one.

I have a 75 mirror which is the same only they were painted body color

The repops are prett nice. I believe Porsche Classic is using the same vendor as one of the more readily available rep brands. Be sure to look closely at something advertised nos. A couple times now I’ve seen recently made Porsche Classic ones advertised as nos in the classified.

That's been my experience. TRE had them in black at one point but they are no longer on their site.

The '74/75 originals and Porsche classic mirrors are all plastic. The Porsche Classic versions are chrome over plastic which is very easy to sand and paint (think of a plastic model kit with chrome parts, not hard to sand off the chrome). Only the mount is base metal so the chrome in this area takes a little more prep time for paint.

The originals are definitely not plastic. Can’t speak on aftermarket ones
