What does one do when restoring and certain parts are NA?

If someone is having their vehicle restored in hopes of entering concours events, what alternative is there when Porsche factory cannot provide the necessary parts- sell the car?

john walker's workshop 07-13-2019 01:29 PM

Ebay, etc. Same issue with any other car.

I'd go to the 911 used parts section here and post a WTB for the part I'm looking for.

Fabric called Twill, was used on bolsters in the mid 7ps Porsches.
Can't even get a swatch of this fabric in my hand, from anywhere, to see what I can find to match from one of the other manufacturers.

No offense intended, but this may be the Porsche gods way of telling you that a '76 Carrera RS MFI should be driven, not trailered around to concours events.

I am noticing people who express interest in my car are looking for originality.

I did a search for twill and saw a fabric shop with 327 results all "Twill" a bunch of different patterns. I'm guessing you're having a difficult time finding the pattern you need?

For example: https://www.westelm.com/products/fabric-by-the-yard-performance-twill-h4431/?catalogId=18&sku=6079919&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google &cm_pla=Furniture%20%3E%20Sofa%20%2B%20Sectional%2 0Collections%20%3E%20Fabric%20By%20The%20Yard&cm_i te=6079919&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpavpBRDQARIsAPfTwixo2mTjX 7Pjn7eJiAFvl3QsLU4xmyCWUCk410B5DmDPZAZEeq-C-kIaAv1REALw_wcB

Someone from another thread here (back in 2013) suggested Heritage Upholstery but mentioned they will not just sell the fabric. They'll source it and reupholster your seats.
