cold start

when I start the car (cold start) it starts immediately but it sounds messy and hesitant , as if it runs on 4 cylinders...but within 2 seconds it evens out and idles smoothly.
once I drive the car stop it and restart it again, it idles smoothly...
any suggestions as to why and how should it be corrected?

are you seeing any smoke at startup? If so, could simply be the engine burning out the oil that can accumulate in the combustion chambers after sitting -- might want to try letting the car idle for 30 secs before turning off (to let it pump more of the oil out of the crankcase) and see if that makes any difference.

My 80SC does the same thing. No smoke I was also wondering what could be the cause runs great other than the 2 sec hesitation at cold start up

I'd start by cleaning the idle air control valve. May be gummed up.

I consulted ,as well, with Sal Carceller who suggested to turn the ignition key and activate the fuel pump for 3 seconds and then go to Start and crank the engine...
this assures that fuel pressure is created and the start up is smooth...
