Permadoom question.

My buddy sold his SC and gave me an old permatune box he had. It is defective as i helped him troubleshoot it a few years ago ... would cut out as soon as you got on it and caused misfiring and popping. As soon as we put in my bosch it was fixed and car was fine.

So now i have this old permatune and i was considering having it fixed if its possible just to keep as an emergency spare for our local air cooled group.

Is this possible or is it a throw away item ? i know CDI boxes can be refurbed i was just not sure about the permatune boxes.

Looks like this box is rivited up but popping a few rivets would be easy enough.

PS its a gen 4 black box.

Thanks

Those units are potted, so they're non-repairable.

Since it is dead anyway, I would pop the rivets to see if it is repairable. You got nothing to lose.
