'87 Carerra Horn Pad Refinish

I have restored my entire dark blue interior on my '87 Carerra, including having the steering wheel recovered, and wanted to ask if anyone has located the correct dye / interior paint to restore the rectangular horn pad? I search the forum and didn't come up with a product or vendor. Is it as simple as going to local automotive paint supply outlet and having them match the color and fill an aerosol can with vinyl paint?

In order to get a match, I believe you want to dye all the leather concurrently, the wheel leather and the horn pad. This is what Autos International did when they double wrapped my 3.2 Carrera steering wheel...

Thanks for the info. When Autobahn re-wrapped my steering wheel they used all new leather and did not dye the existing leather. I send them the horn pad with the wheel and they just send it back as is. I do have a piece of sample leather that can be color matched to. Just not sure who can color match vinly / plastic interior paint.

Maybe Autos International can re-dye my horn pad from a leather sample?

You might also check with Leatherique (Home Page | Leatherique Restoration Products) I believe the do 'match to sample' dye for DIY.

Color Plus is another option for getting a matched to sample leather/vinyl paint. I and several others I know from the 928 community have used them with good results.
