No electrical power at all
On my ride home today my 88 911 died in traffic. I have had the car for about 2 months, and I am a new 911 owner. I heard a pop, the battery light flashed once, and the whole harness went dead. The car was running great right up until it died, then no lights, no ignition, dead. I had the car towed home, and it is now safely in the garage.
Obviously I need to find the bad component. Does the 88 911 have a fusible link? I couldn't find anything with search. Any ideas or suggestions to point a newbie in the right direction would be appreciated. Is this the DME failure I keep reading about? Thanks - Scott |

Are you saying that there are no dash lights, car won't spin over? If so, battery terminal issue probably. Also 2-3 power wires that attach to the positive cable can get loose. If the battery isn't bolted down it puts a strain on the cable connections. Bob

Thanks - The main ground was the culprit. Cleaned the terminals and connection to the frame and all is good. Also added a headlight relay while I was in there.
