Air Vent Control Box, Drill & Tap Repair

I screwed up! The end of the plastic shaft that serves as the pivot point on my Porsche air control box snapped off, as I was reinstalling it! The plastic components in our cars are getting brittle with age and I simply gripped this one the wrong way!

This is an expensive part and I’m not sure how easy it would be to procure one. I wanted to share this fix, to give others some ideas for approaching similar problems.
