Took the P-Car out for a ride today

As the weather broke from the rain and snow, had a nice sunny day to take the P-car out from the garage for a ride. I know the newer cars are faster, have more luxuries, etc, but the early cars have a simplicity and trueness to the original design that is hard to beat. They have CHARACTER. It's a lot of fun driving with no particular destination and a joy to be seen in a car that is uncommon and looks almost new despite being 33 years old.

I know the feeling. Same thing with the weather here in the Carolinas. Took my first "topless" drive of the year yesterday. Almost makes you forget how bad the winter was.

You guys have me beat (car's age wise) but I also had my old (87 cab) 911 out for a drive today for the first time in weeks. My daily driver is an '01 2.7 Boxster. When it is out of warranty it will be gone. Nothing like a good old PORSCHE. Nothing will ever replace the sound of an air cooled PORSCHE boxer 6 with a dual exhaust. Radio? You don't need no stinkin' radio Mon!

It took months to find my perfect 911 PORSCHE. I have owned it for close to 4 years. It is/has been a garage queen. I cannot imagine ever selling it. 63K miles and counting, slowly.

Yep, mine is a garage queen also, except for the weekend drives in nice weather. I never listen to the radio while driving, I'd rather listen to the sound of the air cooled engine. I too, will never sell it. Today will be a warm and sunny day in Albuquerque. I think I'll go for drive later on with the Targa top off.

Ok, I took the car out for a ride today, nice warm sunny day. Had the Targa top off, nice wide open road. OOPS, hit with radar from oncoming sherrif's car. 71 in 55 zone. Oh well, it was sure fun though.

God is crying here, but my day is coming. I can feel it. The rain is warmer than it was a month ago.

I took the Cab for a spin today, then treated her to a full blown detail.

Paul I feel for you, I get all cranky when it's raining, and I can't drive with the top down.

My juices are flowing, I gotta wait a few more weeks here. Snow's just about gone but you can still see the salt dusting all over the roads, they still look white cos of the salt. I started up last week to make sure my new MSD was installed right. Gave the leather a good nurturing this weekend, put the carpets back in after doing some linkage bushing replacements, getting the hand throttle working etc. Can't wait to get out. The PO installed an alpine sound system, what a waste of money. Why would you wanna listen to the stereo when I can listen to my modified 2 in 2 out. . Took out the power amp, too much weight...ha, now I wonder how much the clock weighs cos it doesn't work. It just fills a hole in the dash So why would I want a clock? Time stands still when I'm out in the car, so can the clock. 34 years and going strong. I love it

Completely agree! The old warhorse just has more character and Feel than the new ones.

I drove mine to work today. I only live 3 miles from here. It is SO hard to keep it under 4,000RPM on the way to work cause the oil is still cold. On the way home I tend to take the long way.

Halm Haven't taken the Porsche out much this year but everytime she goes out the roof comes off. Had her out on Sunday for a nice leisurely drive.

Went home for lunch and almost drove her back to work. I fight Charlotte traffic on the way home so I decided against it but one of these days I will break down and drive her to work

That's when I plan to take my car out Weather is warming up nicely here in NY, but I'll be out of the country for the next week or so. After another rain (this week) there shouldn't be any fear of residual salt on the road. The weekend after I get back I will wake up my car after a long winter's nap
