Rear Fog Light (SC) - mounting details?
Hi Folks:
I am planning to add a rear fog light to my 78 SC (Japanese spec car). Although I know that this car did not have this option, I really like the look and also like the safety feature as well. I have purchased the parts from Pelican including the correct bracket and light. My question: Can someone kindly post a picture of a factory installed foglight with dimensions to show exactly where the three holes are drilled in the rear valence? I would like to mount the light in exactly the correct place that the factory did. Also any as installed pictures for a factory installed rear fog light would be appreciated. Thanks very much. Karl

Some cars have the original wiring in place(though they weren’t specced with a rear fog light). Check under your left rear wheel. The factory wiring is folded into the wiring insulation also the factory wiring for the switch will be under the middle of the dash. The fresh air box will need removal to get to the wiring under the dash. One of the factory wires (under dash wires) goes to the head light switch. There is an open terminal where it goes. So to summarize, if you have the factory wiring under the left rear wheel you will have the wiring under the dash. Search pelican , there are some threads with photos.

The switch in the dash needs to be like rear window/mirror defroster. My '84 fog light switch was the on/off 2 position with no twist like the defog switch. I replaced it with a defog switch from eBay. The wire is coiled up behind the air distribution box and left rear wheel tied to the wiring. More tedious than anything else.

The factory shop manual has specs for where to drill the holes. Made a template out of paper which worked out well. Will post a pic of the page later tonight..

I did mine a different way, but there are pictures and lots of information about switches, etc. that will absolutely apply to what you're doing.
