The hottest???
This question intended mainly for those who have experimented with CHT's .....
Which cylinder runs the hottest on a 911? I will be installing my CHT soon. Following the KISS rule, I will only have one gauge and one sender, so want to have it reading the hottest of the hot. Which one would that be? |
Number 3 of course!!! Oh wait, you 911 guys have 2 extra cyls don't you...
I have been told cylinder #1 runs the hottest... let the debate begin.
The knock sensor on my 3.6 is located in the head for cylinder #3 if that means anything.
hmm, I thought the knock sensor was on a bridge that covered and entire side?

The 3.6 knock sensor is comprised of a tuning bar and a sensor across the entire bank of cylinders, one per side. What you're talking about is the cylinder head temperature sensor on #3.
My guess would be front, left side piston as the air from the fan blows in the other direction and the forward cylinders are usually hottest.
At a guess three and five.
touch each one and tell us which one hurt the most.......ok, Im done with the sarcasism....doesn't Bruce A. know?
I will guess 3 and 6 or possibly 2 and 5 but, I would never rule out 1 and 4.

Well, cylinder #1 is cute in a Maryanne from Gilligan's Island sorta way.
#2 is totally girl next door. #'s 4,5, and 6 have been beaten with the ugly stick. Yeah, definitely cylinder #3 is totally HOT!!!! |
I run a probe on 2 & 5
