How To Advance SC Dizzy 1 Tooth

1983 SC

I installed a programmable CDI from Parts K l a s s i k and it requires you to purposely advance the distributor 1 tooth.

I did a search and a bunch of people accidentally advance it a tooth, but in order to purposely set it 1 tooth advanced, does the forward tip of the rotor need to sit 30 degrees before the notch on the distributor body?

360 degrees/12 teeth = 30 deg

Thanks in advance for helping me visualize this.

Upon further thought, since the engine travels 2 rotations for every 1 distributor rotation maybe its:

360*2 = 720 degrees per 1 distributor rotation. 720/12 = 60 deg engine rotation per tooth. Since the distributor travels half the rotation, it should be 30 deg. I think.

Because it doesn't have straight teeth, the distributor rotates as you pull it out. The best way to advance 1 tooth is to note where the rotor is pointing once the drive gears are un-meshed, advance it a few degrees (clockwise iirc for an SC), then lower the distributor back down into the hole. The rotor will turn relative to the body of the distributor as you lower it (jus opposite as when you pulled it out).
