Isn't this pack just 6 AA-sized nicads wrapped up with a couple of faston spade terminals on flying leads? Sure looks like it...

7.2 volts. AA is 1.5V each, so that wouldn't work.

Rechargable AA cells are 1.2V nominal, so a pack made up of 6 of them would be 7.2 Volts. Try Batteries America. They can make any type of pack you could ever need.
