Gap normal between tail light and Porsche reflector?

I just installed new rubber seals on the tail light housings and used Porsche seals

Now I have this obvious gap...see below. I’ve looked at other photos online and it’s a little hard to see if others have it. Is this normal?

I’m guessing that my almost 40 year old original seals were just squished outward and used to fill that gap a bit more so you didn’t see a gap....but I’m not sure

I don't have a good head-on shot here (strange, hundreds of photo's of this car), but it should be less noticeable than the gap in your car.
I'll take a pic tonight when I get home.

It'll be nice to know as I will need to pass the first technical 'oldtimers' inspection by (new) Belgian law early next year and I might have to replace my '85 reflector with a later model that has the rear fog light built-in - I know this is the expensive route. (I don't like the look of the external rear fog light).
Possibly need to change the US lenses for RoW lenses too as blinkers should be orange here.

Thanks for the pics. Wow. Did my original lenses shrink or something? Got some Uro euro lenses coming tomorrow curious to see if there still a cap. I thought for maybe there a seal or something missing but looking at yours, I see plastic meeting plastic

Ramon,
Here are some pics of my 87, more or less similar to yours. Unless I’m missing what you are looking at. Maybe it’s the color that make the gap look large. Also do you have the rubber flap on the center reflector?

Also these are the tail lights I painted the black edge and polished the lenses. I have to look but I think my center reflector hasn’t been polished yet.

I think noticeable due to the white paint....a bit of rubber or flat black will fix that if it bothers you.

I had a look at my SC and it's about the same as yours.

My white SC has the same gap. I put som black rubber in the gap to make it less visible.

Here you go. I’m not sure if your rear reflector had a plastic cover and then the rubber I was referring too.
