Today I had my 911 rust protected - yep I live in Denmark - it's a must.
I chose a place called "Suvo Anti Rust" because I know they treat cars for Denmark's biggest independant Porsche specialist. So as I turn up in the afternoon (today) to pick the car up after the underbody treatment I see how they managed to get ALL parts of the car dirty. Also my leather seats, doorskins etc. Only a little, but still annoying. As I drive home (slowly I might add) I get a huge chock!!! The car almost can't brake!!! I almost collided with the car in front of me! The pedal preassure is enormous, but the brakes feel greasy and have no "bite". The brake distances are considerably longer than normal. Somehow the incompentent jerks must have sprayed rust protection oil on my brakes!!? I try to wear it off on the way home, but even if things improve a little it's still 100% unacceptable! A Hyundai may brake like this - not a 911! FURTHERMORE the incompentent jerks ALSO managed to damage my left rear Cup1 wheel. Somehow (this must be a first class idiot) the employee who treated my car must have hit the wheel with the spraying device? I now have several small "stone chips" in the area around the bolt holes. DAMN I'm pissed ![]() ![]() ![]() There is not one blemish on my car that I have made myself! All "faults" have been made by other people than me (yes this is not the first time I have my car damaged by fools in the motor trade). What happened to the concept of quality? What do you guys think about the brakes? Is it possible to wear off the oil in use or do I need to take the brakes apart and clean them? My mechanic said that the pads may "absorb" the oil material and can be damaged permanently. |

just like clutch discs, once the pads are oiled, they're never the same. it soaks in and brake cleaner only cleans the surface.

JW is, of course, correct. Once contaminated the pads are junk. Good workmanship, in any trade, is getting hard to find. I do my own work, that way I know who to blame.

You gotta remember that when you take a car into a garage where the workers are not passionate about there work, to them it just a job.
I see this in the construction industry all the time. When I was building our house I saw screw up all the time by construction workers. My wife couldn't understand why the workers kept screwing up and I had to explain to her that it's not their house that they are working on, to them it just a job. I found an independent mechanic for my wife Audi who is passoniate about his work. I just wish he could work on the P car. The Audi dealer that I use to bring my wife car to is only there to make money. I asked them to replace the transmission fluids because of a recall for that transmission. They replace the transmission fluid, but not the final drive gear oil which was a part of the recall. After about a year and a half I started to hear the differential whine so I brought it back to the dealer and they confirm that the differential was low on gear oil, the reason for the original recall. They never change the differential gear oil. The only comment that the service manager had for me was that it would cost $10,000 to replace the transmission and that I aready got 37,000 miles out of the car. The car was already out of warranty because of the age. I would never buy an Audi from that dealer again. 82 911SC Targa 70 Lotus Type 52 with twin webers 70 Lotus Europa 97 Isuzu Rodeo the Grocery, parts and the baby seat SUV |

Thanks I just needed to be confirmed on what my mechanic said. Ruf-Porsche Don't get me started on house builders ![]() jmohn Sadly you're right. Dickster Tomorrow at 8 am I'll be at the adress of the anti rust company. With the car and with a bad temper. Either they forget about payment for the rust treatment or else they pay for new brake pads and labour for installation/cleaning. I know they'll refuse into eternity that they damaged my rearwheel, but I'm still going to complain about it. |
