915 push clutch with beetle engine

Hi all,

Which pressure plate would work when hooking up a 915 with a pull clutch with a VW type-1 or type-4 engine with a 215 or 228mm clutch disk.

What is the vehicle?

The type 4 engine uses a 215 mm clutch/pp package.
Clutch packs are usually matched to the bolt pattern on the flywheel.
Make sure that the clutch splines match the splines on the output shaft of the 915.
FWIW, a 912E uses a 923 trans mated to a type 4 lump.

You need to use a 912E trans with a push clutch as stated. No pull type clutches for a bug/bus engine. Or use a '69 and earlier 901 trans. Most bug conversions use the 901.

Basically I’m trying to fit a 915 trans to a 914 type-4 engine in a rear engine car.

The 912e uses a push clutch, as far as I can tell, the only difference is the 912e has a different clutch fork, but otherwise the same trans other than gear ratio.

The clutch throughout bearing on the 912e is crazy insane expensive, so I’d like to use a 911 style pull clutch. 912e parts are next to impossible to find, way easier to source 911 parts.

So I’m trying to figure out what the flywheel depth is on the 911 engines and see if a 911 pressure plate would work with a type-4 flywheel.

No, the clutch splines on the input shaft are different, and the cable is routed differently.
