Should I check the injectors?
So i have drained all the contaminated (overfilled) oil, cleaned the plugs, cleaned the air box, hoses and any cavity that may have been contaminated with oil. New oil and the moment of truth.... turned on the engine this morning, after a few cranks it finally stayed on... still smoking but not as the first time some days ago.
So I am where I was a week ago... it runs but rough. If i slowly manually move the accelerator in the engine, it might rev up a little bit but the more I move it the weaker the acceleration or it wants to shut off. I just want to be sure that I need to remove, check the injectors or if I am missing a area or part to check before, then please let me know. For those that have not read my prior threads or know about the start of all this ordeal.. I have pasted the previous threads to bore you away.. a bit long. The list of parts that have been replaced: Starter, fuel pump, fuel filter, FPR, Oxygen sensor, speed sensor, reference sensor, fuel relay, Cylinder head temp sensor... I think that's it. The engine was running ok, other than the idle situation which seems to have been caused by a faulty FPR. Then the diaphragm inside must have ruptured and that was the cause of other issues. Plugs have been cleaned and aren't that old or used up, cap and rotor pretty much the same as the plugs - but I have cleaned them nevertheless. Put some techron to help clean the system some weeks ago. I recall reading somewhere that there is a gentleman that cleans injectors in Idaho... could I do that versus buying new ones? Or is there a difference versus cleaning and repairing worn out injectors Thanks to all those that spend their own personal time in helping and advising not just me, but all the rest of us beginners Best R I am losing my patience with this engine!!!! Is this possible? Now what???? Last edited by LatinPorsche911; 08-15-2019 at 12:07 PM.. |

Did you check your fuel pressures yet?

Yes... I was advised my Sal to check pressure from the fuel rail test port, over at fuel pump, before fuel filter, back end before fpr (which is how it was discovered that FPR was bad)
I can check again... but just assumed pressure would be good since it's been like a month since all that was done. Should I check at fuel rail again? |

No, it probably has not changed. Just want to make sure you are following the correct troubleshooting path.
I had some injectors cleaned by a company in Houston, don't recall the name. They did a nice job. They can quantify the condition of your injectors as they are now prior to cleaning...this way you will know what issues you may have with the injectors. So, first, get the fuel system working correctly, and if the engine still runs poorly, we can move on to something else. I was told by some farmers, many years ago, that it is almost always the fuel when the engine doesn't run right.

Good Injectors
So took all 6 injectors to a guy that works on them near by... received a call today that all of them are good.
Will pick them up and put them on tomorrow.... decided to be proactive and ask ahead of time: So if injectors are working well... then what else can be the cause of not being able to accelerate the engine? I will check again the fuel pressure on the rail test port just to be sure.... What the heck is going on???? Could it be the DME? Not sure what exactly to search for in the forum... |
