83 kiln red rebuild

Hello everyone, I've been a car nut for a long time now and decided to finally take the plunge. I've been looking for a early 80's targa for a while, but always knew I wouldnt want to leave it stock. That part made me feel bad looking at good running cars to mod out... enter the roller rebuild. I found this out in Chicago, 83 kiln red rust free targa, and with a day or so of texting, I was set. I drove out, rented a trailer and brought it home.. the original plan was to wait about 6 months before i drove in. I have a rallye golf project going on as well and wanted to finish that before starting another... of course that changed.. while searching Ebay I found a full drivetrain from a 79 for sale at a great price and figured I'd be saving in the long run..

I've always been a German VW/Audi guy, I have a 811whp mk4 r32, a vr swapped rallye golf, and a tdi touareg.. I've owned a few audis in the past but know this rebuild will definitely be my new favorite. I look forward to learning and updating as I go along.

I added a few pics of the other cars as well

Does anyone know what the stock CIS system and manifold is worth? Gonna be putting this up for sale soon.

I sold mine complete for ~600 a year and a half ago. Unbolted it from the engine, set it in a box, and shipped. The big-valve SCs have a different fuel distributor and larger runners which make them pretty sought-after.

Also, how do you like that TDI Touareg? I know Luke Shell loves his, but he and Clint are TDI crazed. I love my 4Runner, but it won't tow anything. It can barely get out of its own way and I was thinking a Touareg could be a solid daily in place of it.

Thanks for the CIS info

And I love the touareg, I have the malone tune, but even before that I used it to tow the R to wookies and it was superb. Great fast mileage and towed up the passes with ease. I even towed my buddies bobcat around the neighborhood to try it lol. Although that weight was definitely over the limit of the frame. I drove to Chicago to pick this roller up and almost hit 700 miles on a tank the way there...

Yes they have the deletes available, I didnt do those though because of the TDI extended warranty.. gonna wait till that's over first.
