Well, I'm actually glad that both sides have now been told, especially the part about "making an error in the text page."
While I will admit that I'm not a brake expert (nor have I claimed to be) I didn't notice the difference in the rears until I had the real deal in my hand.
Regardless of my experience, purchase price, what would be better for me, or what I needed the calipers for, these calipers were not correctly represented and that is where my dissatisfaction lies. The title reads" Big Red Brakes (in yellow)
The second line reads complete set, front and rear of Porsche 993tt Big Reds.

I cannot resist either...

As a technical writer by trade, I cannot overemphasise the need to look over your copy, again, and again, and then again. An error in text is easily defined as intentional misrepresentation even where you did not intend it to be. In a court of law you haven't a chance, though shades and degrees of guilt or innocence can and should meter out appropriate justice.

I also have a bit of a problem with broadcasting "this guy took me" roundhouse punch threads. There are always two sides.

That said I am as guilty as the next, what with passing on rumors of Paul Weir and whatnot.

Why can't the entire transaction be reversed, the shipping and handling equally split, and this toe-to-toe simply serve as education? That would seem to be the only resolution available to the two of you.

Again, I'm no angel...
John

Mike, I do not hold a grudge and admire your courage and forthrighteness in coming into the lions den so to speak. I will continue to steer customers your way as I have in the past. You Do offer attractive, unique and fairly priced services and products that many of us can use productively. I am glad that you posted here and hope that all the other issues can be settled to everyones satisfaction.
:)

I have special packaging for all my items and that simply costs money. Would it be better to simply charge $200 for the item and then ship it for $6? I don't know. And for that matter, Mr. Bennet wanted to purchase the FVD or the Ruf adapters because they weighed less. Yes, I did my research. The FVD weigh .1 oz less than mine and cost more. And the Ruf adapter weighs MORE and costs MORE. Does any of this make sense to you? Someone want to explain this to me? So now I'm a bad guy becasue I want to be compensated for the time and materials it takes for me to ship a product?

Michael,
First off, I never asked about FVD or Ruf adapters. I wasn't even aware of them. So no, it doesn't make any sense to me because you have me confused with someone else. I called you up one day, ordered the adapters (without even picking your brain), you told me what the shipping would be and you sent them. I wasn't aware of any other source selling these adapters at the time so I accepted the shipping charges. I'm not saying you did anything dishonest.
As a customer however, I feel ripped off when a vender charges me $25 to ship something that probably costs $8 to ship. Really, how would you feel if someplace charged you $25 shipping and handling on a small (unbreakable) item that weighed about a pound?

If there's one thing I can tell everyone from experience about this, it's that this forum is a hotbed for vaguely dissatisfied customers to raise a big stink about a seller and essentially vilify them in front of a substantial audience.

It's sad, really, because a lot of times, it's just a misunderstanding between buyer and seller. And the seller gets a really bad name for it.

I myself have posted about my experiences with Firestone - they put my car up on a lift, and crushed the oil lines, so I posted pictures and dire warnings - so I understand the attraction of slagging someone you're pissed at. But I think it gets out of hand at times.

I must say this has been one of the more pointed dialogues.

I'm glad I saw both sides of the story. I won't say who I think is in the right here. But I will take all the information into account when considering brake vendors.

I agree that it took alot of guts to jump in.

To all that have followed this . . . .

FWIW, I have agreed to accept the calipers back, refunding the amount Mr. Howard suggested in his proposed solution (private e-mail) and Mr. Howard will keep the rotors, hats and adapters. The refund amount is contingent upon recipt of the calipers in the same condition as which they were sent.

As Mr. Howard initiated a complaint against me with paypal and said he would be denying the charge to his credit card company, I have asked that he contact both companies and cancel or rescind the complaint immediately.

Now the ball is in Mr. Howard's court . . . .

So that all sides are equal, and both sides are being told and told correctly.
Michael has agreed to my original proposed solution regarding this dispute as mentioned above. There is however a stipulation to this. (private e-mail)
If the stipulation is met then both sides will walk away.
So, actually the ball is in Michael's court.
I do hope this gets resolved in a reasonable manor.
