Rocker Shaft Question/Help

Hi

I've noticed a couple of oil leaks starting recently and suspected the rocker shafts. I've found 2 so far on drivers side are leaking, but I have a question about the shaft installation direction and the engagement. I've found all the rocker shafts are installed the same way with the 5mm bolt towards the front.

That is odd. If one were to install them all the same way the 5mm bolt should be toward the rear so that they can all torqued through the flywheel end of the engine with an extension. That said, We torque used shafts in used cam towers to 19lb/ft as we have seen plenty of them move when (apparantly) torqued to factory specs during a rebuild. We have never had a leak or movement this way, mind you, we also use the RSR seal on the shafts.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Thanks Jeff, Apparently I accidentally started two threads with the same title, not sure how....

Anyway, I managed to get a small torque wrench on the two that were leaking and found they were well below 11lb/ft. I took them up to 17lb/ft and they seem better so far (only after an hour's test drive though). Passenger side next
