Gone ..sniff sniff, but not forgotten.
Well I gave away my 72' Roadster Project today. I had to make room for my 71'S Targa I recently purchased that needs some resto work. I kept the motor and tranny (2.9 RS in parts and a 915) but the roller is gone.
It was a touch choice but I had to make some hard decisions. I was hoping to have the Coupe sold by now but I just haven't had time to tie up a few loose ends before I move it so the Roadster had to go. It's to bad because it was a fairly nice foundation. The car was straight no collision damage. The only rust problem was the suspension pan and the A pillars that would have been an easy fix. The car already had front and rear factory swaybars. I finally gave in to the realization that it would be at least a year until I could get back to it. I told myself that when the the 71'S Targa is done I can always by another 72' Targa to build my Roadster on. Anyway, here's a photo of a Silver 72' Targa that I photoshopped to show my vision for a 72' Roadster. (deleted hood badge, no vent in the hood etc.) My car was Light Ivory however. I was planning to paint the dash Ivory as well and install a set of 67' green face VDO gauges I have. Oh well. She's gone but not forgotten. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...ooRoadster.jpg |
My deepest sympaties... I know what it must have felt like, since my own 911S will leave my possession in 48 hours from know...
I will take her out for one last spin tonight, wash and clean her thoroughly and then put her in the garage, where she will wait for her new owner who arrives on Saturday to pick her up.. :( http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/bawling.gif Well, at least I got a good $$$ for her, so the hunt for her replacement has already started! :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/911a2.jpg |
Bo, That's got to be tough. I saw your webpage and how much work you put into that car. (Good job by the way)
I'm sure the next project will be better than ever. What are you looking for? |
Thanks!
Haven't really decided yet - most likely an SC or 3.2 Convertible, but I may even end up with a 964Cab.. kind of depends on if I'm willing to chance it with a newer car with more miles/owners on it vs. an older one with a "better" history. Unfortunately, this is the wrong time of the year to start looking for an open car.. (however the best time to sell one!), and I don't want to wait until next winter to buy one just to be able to save a few $$. We'll see what happens! :D |
