Best tires in certain sizes
I'm looking for the best tires I can fit on 15" wheels in either 205 X 60 or 195 x 65 sizes. I need good rain performance. Any ideas?

I have a set of 15" 7s and 8s. I put snow tires on 'em; that's the only thing that's still around for them.

Randy, Looks like tirerack.com has those sizes in stock, but all I could find was HR and VR speed ratings. The manufacturers were Yoko, Michelin, Perreli, Dunlop and Sumitomo.
I was talking the guy I use for tires for the Porsche (and other cars) and he said some manufacturers still make good tires in that size. I forget who he said it was but you call Jeff Curran (no it's not me) at Group A Wheels. 480-813-4776. He is very knowledgable and helpful. He can also ship to you and has very good prices. |
Randy,
I have 7 & 8's x 15" and I am running a Toyo Proxi FZ4 in 205-50-15 (front) and 225-50-15 (rear). Their are a directional tire with A ratings for Remp. and Traction and a wear rating of 300 also labeled M/S (mud/snow??). It's my only car and I drive it year round in all types of weather and have been VERY happy with the tires. Great dry weather traction (comfortable in a four wheel drift, but a little noisy) and EXCELLENT wet weather handeling. It took me a while to figure out the correct tire pressure (34 psi front/ 41 psi rear) Got them from the tirerack last year. My car is below euro ride height so the wheel wells don't look at all bad with the 50 series on 15" rims. Hope this hepls. |
