Porsche Crest Any Porsche nuts near Davis Cali?

I'm looking for any Porsche nuts near Davis Cali that could use some help working on their cars. I out here going to school and my girl (1973 911T) is sitting in the garage back in NM waiting for me to get her back together. My father and I have rebuilt the engine and tranny. I've taken the car down to sheet metal, fixed rusted areas, done bady work and re-painted it. Now I just have to put the puzzle back together. Anyway, I haven't had my hands greasy since christmas and it is driving me crazy. I'd be glad to help with anything Porsche related. Please drop me a line so I can get a break from this school work.

I think "cowtown" is from Davis, Ca. I grew up in Dixon and Davis was my stomping ground in my younger years. Do a search for his screen name or just wait and I'm sure he'll chime in.

Brad - both my wife and I are Aggies; we met in school (yes, college sweethearts, collective group sigh). Not there any longer, but only fond, if not hazy memories of great years in Davis. Anyway, there are a bunch of phanatics in the Sacto area, suggest you open your search radius a bit (e.g. widebody911 is in Carmichael).

Rick - I grew up in Escondido. Man, that place changed a lot after I left (in 1977!).

Don,

Yea it's changed alot since I moved here in "81". Alot less open ground and more homes and traffic, around 115,000 now. Still close to all the rural areas and roads leading to the mountains. Next few years heading back up north to be around familyand the foothills of Auburn/Grass Valley.

Yet Another Davisite

Hey Brad,

I live in Davis, too, and have plenty of opportunities for greasy fun with the SC! In fact, I'm currently waiting for a new set of tranny mounts from our sponsor that will no doubt stir things up a bit in the garage.

I've also been waiting for some bad weather so I can pull the alternator for a rebuild. These nagging maintenance projects would sure be easier if we didn't have so much good weather here this winter!!!

Scott, does your car have a ducktail? I coached a little league team in Paradise last year (I'm in Chico) and remember once trying to keep up with a yellow early 911 on the Skyway on the way to a game. I was in a red '89 325is and no, I couldn't keep up.

911s are pretty scarce around here, especially early ones. It's good to know there are at least a few of us with good taste!

I will be back from vacation on the 18th of Feb and maybe then we can set a time and day for the meeting. Also sent you and email with my work address.I will be checking in here and also email.

Brad, I'm the guy who called you for advice about sealing up my case, and I'm in Davis too. Sounds like we all need to get together and go for a drive some time.

I am working on a '75 911S right now just about every weekend and you are welcome to drop by my place and help/kibbitz/give advice. I hesitate to work with other people because I do everything in S-L-O-W motion and am always unsure of myself to the point of driving people crazy. But I'll be POR-15ing my front trunk and will be dropping the 2.7 engine in the coming weeks.

Porsche Crest get together

Given the amount of responses I've received from Pelicans near or in Davis, I would like to organize a get together where we can talk about projects and brag about our cars. Maybe Saturday the 22? If people are interested let me know and I'll come up with a place and time. I may have to bum a ride in a 911 from someone. My 10 speed just doesn't accelerate like Porsche.

Hey cowtown,
I wouldn't mind taking you up on that ride. I've been restoring my car for over 2 year, so I am no stranger to slow motion car work. We did everything in a very timely manner. I actually hand pollished my magnesium case, hand painted the heads of the threw bolts in my case...... my friends thought i was crazy and that the car would never get put back together. For now they are correct but she will come back to life this summer. It may take a long time to get anything done this way, but at least we know we did a good job.
Anyway, I would enjoy just stoppin by and looking at your projects. If ya need a hand dropping that engine, just drop me a line.

I go to school at Davis too, but the Porsche is in Santa Rosa. Its my dads car, but I'm the one that posts on the board. A meet sounds like a great idea, I will talk to my dad about bringing the car up for a weekend.

I'm in Davis too, though I don't know the first thing about working on my car, an 88 coupe.

Let me know if there is a get together!

Brad,
Keep us posted on the get together. I'd make the drive down from Chico, but the Porsche will have to stay home (engine rebuild in progress).
