Purpose on two wires on ignition switch

I have been chasing numerous electrical gremlins on my 74 targa, encountered melted insulation on the wires connected to the two prong plug circled in the photo, followed the wires and then travelled under last to the passengers truck area. Could not determine their purpose.

Their purpose is to annoy you! They are for the buzzer that reminds you that the key is in the ignition when you open the door.
