1973 Carrera rs/rsr
Hi, This is my first post. You guys have a great spot (thanks Wayne !) and I look forward to participating in the future. Just joined PCA too. Bought a 911 off ebay in December and all I can think about are 911's. I am looking for a RSR replica(anybody have one for sale?) to race in PCA, HSR etc. and in looking came across a 1973 Carrera RS (real)that is available for sale. It is a great looking car, and I need to make an offer on it. It has RSR flares on it and that is about the only non original item I can see. It is a lightweight car. Considering that the car is devalued somewhat by the non original flares, at least equal the cost of re-doing it to stock, and also considering that the removed fenders, wheels, bumpers etc. are worth something, What is the range of value to this car. I'm no expert, so please take a moment and help me determine a value so I can make a reasonable offer. I doubt I'll get it but I have to try ! Good replica RSR's set up for the track are not that much less than this real RS/RSR
Thanks for your time. Johan Atlanta, Ga. Last edited by CanAmThunder; 03-28-2003 at 06:57 AM.. |

The value of any RS is dependent on matching numbers, originality and condition (body, paint, engine, interior) and history. Without these pieces of information in detail, the value could be anywhere from $30,000 to $130,000. I would recommend having a PPI done by an RS expert before making an offer (depending on where the car is we might be able to point one out to you).

Redducati, I wish I had a Ducati. Can't hav everything. I don't watch TV much, have a little 12" BW unit. I drive a 1985 Dodge K-car as a daily driver. I'm one of the few people that stop to pick up pennies. I used to wish I was Steve Mqueen driving 917's and such, but since he's dead I'm glad I'm me.
I think a Carrera would be a good investment, and would be a nice thing to pass on to my boy. He'd think his pop was an OK dude I bet , although Home depot stock would probably be worthmore in the long run, not as much fun in the meantime though. Randy, thanks, I've done that today and condition, completeness history all very good. Car got the thumbs up so perhaps my questions are answered. Just sort of trying a last ditch effort to see if there is a good RSR replica track ready out there before I consider going off the deep end and make an offer on the original. It's not like I think I'll get it, but it would be fun to offer on it anyway. Last edited by CanAmThunder; 03-28-2003 at 07:14 AM.. |

Johan, to quote a phrase,
You can sleep in a car, but you can't drive a house. (or a stock certificate).

Hi Chris, my point exactly ! As you can see, I'm still looking for a car....just like yours ! You really did it right. Don't forget about coming to Roebling road in July...

This is it.....kind of gets to ya doesn't it. I figure I could live in a tent(with the car) and eat pine cones , using one of those rear wheels as a pillow.
