Targa Top Tensioning Band Material
Greetings,
Have taken on a redo of my 1980 911 Targa top. Fortunately, mine is in decent shape, not a have to but want to project. I have read through a number of the excellent threads on the forum - kudos to all those have shared their experiences, knowledge. Some good tips that are very useful. I have a very specific inquiry that I would appreciate some info on. I am seeking out material to use for front and rear Tensioning Bands. Anybody found something they are really positive about, and also anything to avoid? Thanks in advance for responses! Phil

I too would be interested in this as I am about to take on the rebuild of my original top on my '84 Targa.

Canvas
Years ago when I rebuilt mine, I found a thick canvas material at one of the local boating marina's that worked out great.
I believe it was just basic canvas used to make custom boat covers. Good luck,

Convertible top cover material. Autos International sells it roughly cut to size. The trick is riveting/gluing it to get the snap action when you open the top. The aluminum bands have holes that look like they held screws at one time, maybe to secure the pieces on a jig while the factory people affixed the fabric bands. It's tricky to get this right.
