help ID torsion bars + input re: damage
all;
2 things if you can indulge me; 1) does anyone recognize the manufacturer of these bars ? the ends are simply marked 22911 L / 22911 R. the measure 22MM dia. there are no other markings or labeling (Sway-A-Way ?) 2) is the rub damage a concern ? i've tried to measure the depth @ the worst point and I come up with .001 to .0015 the opposite ends have small wear spots barely through the paint. input appreciated. TIA jerry http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571182626.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571182644.jpg |
I think those are Sway-Aways, but it doesn't really matter much - a bar is a bar pretty much, and obviously they fit.
The rubbing is due to failure of the (OEM rubber probably) bushings. Get rid of any rust, maybe polish, and put some paint on, and with new bushings (typically bigger bars are used with urethane or harder bushings, but not necessarily)they should be good. |
If the rust is surface rust and not pitted polish/paint and move on....form the looks of them you need the rubber bushings replaced.

I'm also in the habit of greasing my entire bars as additional corrosion protection. Not sure if it helps or not, but don't think it hurts. Plus keeps the splines from getting stuck.

guys ... thanks for all the input. I wanted to put myself (...and the new owner) at ease. after being informed that going to 26mm rears these would not provide appropriate bias. I found a set of 20s & all is good.
thanks again! |
