How to upgrade my 69T to Bosch CDI
My 69T did not come with CDI .
Ever since my rebuild with S pistons. Seems to want to foul plugs. To address the plug fouling . I would like to upgrade to a CDI system but, am now having second thoughts about using the big MSD (red brick!) . Just would like to have a more OE look when I lift the deck lid. Can I retrofit to a Bosch CDI... and if so which Bosch ? 3 pin , 6 pin ? Thanks in advance for the advice. Doug |

You could use a Streetfire, or the one from the English co, classic retrofit?. But I’m reconsidering ignition. I rode in a dual plug, emotive coils, Clewett pulley triggered hot rod last week. The engine ran smooth and was very fast. I’m thinking I’ll make the jump to coil on plug and ITB injection.

You want a 3 pin unit. You will need that and the correct current transformer (coil). You use your points to trigger the CDI.

There are other alternatives including MSD.

Harry.
Thanks for the information. Ton of good info on the thread you recommended. Just now ...Through another thread I found a recommendation for Bob Ashlock who restores Bosch CDI units. Regards. Doug |
