VW vs. 911 Jack tool

Hi all,

i'm trying to find a "correct" jack-tool for a 1972 911 T

can anyone please tell the differences of the Double Hump Jack-tool for the 911s (1970-1972) and the VW-BUGs ?

How do you spot if a Bilstein jack-tool come from a Porsche or from a VW ??

I read that someone reported that also the Original 911 jack-tool can have the VW logo and this confuses me... please help !

Can’t assist with IDing the correct jack, but suggest you not use it except in an extreme emergency. They’re not safe.

Instead, source an aluminum scissors jack as supplied with 944s. They’re light and safer to use.

Agree with 911pcars.... and you don't have the worry of trying to lift the car if the jack port is weak/rusty.

I am thinking the correct jack is a blistein green dot screw jack like this below.

FS - Green Dot Blistein Jack

I know my 1973.5 has a Green Dot jack. If yours had an earlier jack since new then the transition happened sometime between 1972 and 1973. FWIW my friend who used to own a 1972S had the VW style jack.

I have heard, for tool kits, it was not uncommon for Porsche to use up their old stock before making the change to the newer product.

There are numerous threads on this practice at the Early 911S Registry BBS.

I would not be surprised to find out that some time in 1972 MY the jack was changed.

Looking at 911S Registry it seems many 1972 left the factory with a VW-bug stlye jack-tool.

I also can confirm that 1973 is the hear of change from double hump o the green dot jacks I was just asking if someone know the differences between those jacks.
Are they really "the same"jacks of vw-bugs?

Someone for example noted a fifference in the upper rubber ring... porsche should have a larger ring to protect paintwork of the door

I know, as 911pcars said, they are really unstable. I just need one to complete a restoration.

Thank you
