Body work question - rear parcel shelf

Hi guys, hoping to get a quick confirmation of something . My ‘67 912 (cough cough) need the rear parcel shelf replaced and I have it trimmed and ready to go.

In the second picture I’ve circled specifically what I’m asking about. Then first picture is how I think it will align underneath the new parcel shelf panel. If I’m correct then I can just drill a couple holes in the top parcel shelf piece and replicate a spot weld with the MIG.

Anyone been there and dissected that?
