MSD box install in a 911 SC
I'm trying to help a friend to install a MSD box (6425) to his 1983 SC, I searched all over the place to find a description of which wire goes to where in the 6 pin CDI plug but I didn't find anything useful for this application, can some please explain the connection layout to hook the MSD box to the stock 6 pin CDI plug in the body harness?
Thanks! |

See post #16 by timmy2 I think the wiring is the same for the Streetfire and the 6AL. |
And then have a look at post #22. Note the comment about possibly having to swap the green and violet wires.

^ Amen.
Dennis also sold me the connector and pins necessary to plug the Streetfire box directly into the 6 pin CDI connector. |
I had a quick question on the install as well.
I'm supposed to clip the red hoop wire that hangs out the bottom, and leave the blue one alone, right? Its in the MSD instructions, but I never see it mentioned in the hundreds of posts I've read on the install. |

Good point it is never mentioned. Just follow MSD instructions for that. I also set the rev limiter in the MSD and disabled the factory rev limiter. Don’t want competitive processes trying to do the same thing. |
Also, I seem to remember a post I made a long time ago about a way to easily test for spark. I think it involves the white wire that you cap off. I think it was something like you could ground the white wire to get the coil to fire. Handy if you ever have to troubleshoot weak/no spark condition. But for the life of me I can’t remember the details. LOL
