Best way to ship 2 turbo fenders from LA to NYC

Anyone with an idea of the cost and best method of shipping these. I recently purchased the 2 fenders and have a buddy pick them up and store them in his garage. Now I need to get them here to NYC. Been running into a bunch of dead ends on getting affordable quotes. Please anybody that is knowledgeable chime in.

Big cardboard box and fedex or ups. That’s how all the suppliers of these types of parts do it. It just all depends on what you consider “affordable”.

What if you made a plywood box and ship them by a freight truck ( R&l , FedEx freight ) might be cheaper the $500

I just measured and weighed my Front 930 Turbo fender. 60 inches. 20lbs. 1,000.00 insurance. Downtown los Angeles Terminal to New York city Terminal up to 14 days would be 122.00 a fender.

Check with Fastenal. They will ship from store to store very inexpensively. Like $150 for an engine on a pallet x-country.

With Greyhound price depends on how much insurance you want. No insurance quotes came in at 95.00 a fender.

Be careful using Grayhound for large packages. If when picking up passengers along the way, additional luggage room is needed, they will remove any large shipping box and leave it at whatever terminal they happen to be at in order to accommodate passengers. Whats worse is that this is often not documented so it may take weeks for them to figure out where the driver left your package. This happened to me once shipping a large box over several states. It ended up taking a month to arrive after numerous attempts to locate it. The longer the trip and the bigger the box, the more likely this is to happen. For short trips or smaller to normal size boxes they are fine.

I sent a front 911 fender west coast to east coast.

Grey Hound LOST it somewhere. couldn't find it for over a month.

Buyer was patient and understanding, cool Pelican

I had it insured. Bus company couldn't care less.

like 6-8 weeks after the fact I was about to simply refund the money to buyer.

Grey Hound finally came up with $100-200 shrugging/yawn "to cover the original cost of shipping" and sent me a check.

Karma. The Fender showed up at Buyers the same day I get the check.

Greyhound is a disaster. I can’t imagine shipping Porsche parts of any value. The one and only time I was sent parts by bus, they looked like the bus ran them over. I’ve since refused to send or receive parts that way. I’m not the only one who has had problems. They could simply care less about your shipment.

Wow! Never heard the horror stories. I guess I've been lucky. I've sent Fenders, 2 Turbo Valances, And a Tea tray Tail. Never had any problems. Good to know. Good luck!
