Early 911 Upper Steering Bushing

All:
Looking for the upper steering bushing repair part for early cars. It's NLA from Pelican. Anyone have an idea on where to source, or might have an extra? Thanks!

You sure? I bought a bearing and a shim to take the play out. There is a thread about removing steering play. Some guy made shims to fix it. Use DDG to search with siteelicanparts.com

FCP Euro or Parts geek has the upper steering column shim for 14.00. I changed mine with ease. Slides right on.

Our fix is different. You will need the spring and bushing that was there from the factory.

You do need the spring and bushing that was there from the factory as per above, but...

you may also need the actual needle* bearing - I had to buy a used one from PartsHeaven for my '73. They are NLA.

Beware of doing what a PO did to my car: he hammered in a non-stock bearing that almost fit, but it greatly restricted what steering wheels could be used, and I had a devil of a time getting it out of there...

I am thinking that this bushing should be the same on the early 911's. Per my 64-69 PET, the Part number is : 695-347-725-00.

Check this page in the Pelican Catalog: https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search_2016.cgi?description=69534772500&make=POR&FILTER_SVSVSI_5878=ON&Category_PartNumbers=ON&Category_TechArticles=ON&description_side=69534772500&GoSearchSideFlag=&command=DWsearch

Looking at the web page for the Porsche parts place in Ohio (S T O D D A R D), they show this part as being for a 356 but sure looks the same. Perhaps a call to them (440-869-9890) can verify if this is the correct part for your car.

Yup. Sorry for the upside down pics. If you need the needle bearing it is still available but last I checked was over $200.00

Not sure what you are looking at.

The part I have the above link to is $25 for the repro or $35 for the Porsche part.

The price on the original upper shaft bearing for 1973 and earlier, 914-347-711-00, is currently listed for $271. https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/5878/POR_5878_SUSSTR_pg5.htm#item19

The Mitch Leland split ring bushing was for early cars 1973 and prior. It looks similar to the one Harry D shows, but I don't know if the dimensions are the same. It took up the slack caused by wear in the early 914-347-711-00 bearing and steering shaft without having to replace the bearing.
