Door Vapor Barrier Fabrication
I'm repairing my door pockets. While I'm at it, I will also remove the door cards and vapor barriers, clean and lube the latch mechanisms, adjust window frames, etc. (the car has new door seals) Vapor barriers tend to get torn over time, so I'm thinking of getting some plastic at Home Despot and making new vapor barriers. AppBiz makes a nice product available from our host, but I'm thinking "how hard can it be" to just make them. Please offer your thoughts on this, including where I might find the right kind of putty to install the new plastic.
Go Seahawks!

I got the appbiz version with my door panels. It is nice heavy plastic and is precut. But I dont see why you cant diy.

Factory vapor barriers are double, so the membrane seals moisture from the door panel, but the inner surface shed water into the door cavity, so water can seep out the drain holes in the door.....so, at the locations where there are holes in the metal inner door, you can slit and push the inner material into the inside of the door.

On my SC there was one piece of plastic that fit the entire open area of the door, and about 1/2 way down from top was another trapezoidal shaped piece of plastic "flap" that gets tucked into the large opening of the door. I used clear plastic underlayment stuff and fabricated both the main piece and the trapezoidal piece with the same material, duct taped that on both sides to the main sheet to create the "flap", then installed it to the door with the outdoor version of blue painters tape.
